Deniz Okten

Co-Founder

Deniz was born in Izmir in 1981. Upon completing her high school in Kayseri, Central Anatolia Region, he started studying Architecture at METU Middle East Technical University in Ankara in 1999. She has had her Bachelor of Architecture degree from METU with honor degree at 2003 and awarded as Master of Architecture with her thesis ‘Re-problematizing the Contextualism- Autonomy Debate in Architecture within the Formal Logic of Computational Operations’ in 2007. 

Since her graduation at 2003, she had worked at various offices and Boran Ekinci Architects architectural office from 2007 to 2014. Here she designed, prepared application drawings and coordinated various project types from urban design to housing. In 2014, she was invited to coordinate the projects and construction of the EXPO 2017 ASTANA- Future Energy Museum and exhibition complex as the design office chief of the Kazakhstan Pavilion central glass sphere. In 2018, she was invited to coordinate the projects and construction of the Mozambique Maputo US Embassy Campus buildings. Upon living and working at Kazakhstan and Mozambique projects she found the chance to experience the concepts she had studied at her thesis – place, context, collective cultural identity, sustainability where local culture and conditions is still dominant in the urban life. In 2019 she joined to Handenur Yazıcı Engin as a partner to BI Architecture and Consultancy office where she still continues to work at various architectural and design projects.
